Best Buldak Ramen

What is buldak?

Buldak, often called fire chicken, is a hot Korean meal made with grilled chicken. "Dak" denotes chicken, while "bul" denotes fire.

Bite-sized chunks of chicken called bulgdak are drenched in a hot sauce consisting of gochugaru, gochujang, soy sauce, jocheong (rice syrup), ginger, and garlic.

This relatively new dish gained popularity in the early 2000s, partly because of Samyang buldak instant noodles and buldak eateries.

What is ramen buldak?

Buldak ramen, an extremely hot instant ramen noodle, gained popularity thanks to the well-known Korean brand Samyang.

They're known as hot chicken flavor ramen, or buldak bokkeum myeon, and they're basically instant ramen with a buldak flavor.

They come in a variety of flavors and are among the spiciest instant noodles available worldwide.

Buldak ramen is a sauced noodle dish; when the noodles are cooked, they are drained and combined with the buldak sauce, unlike most quick ramens, which are soupy.

Best Buldak Ramen

The noodles are the best-selling noodle in Samyang and are immensely popular.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp gochujang or to taste, see notes
  • 1 tbsp gochugaru
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp chicken bouillon
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 portion cooked noodles of choice
  • 2-4 tbsp noodle water as needed

Process

Combine the gochujang, gochugaru, sugar, rice vinegar, chicken bouillon, soy sauce, and toasted sesame oil in a bowl.

As directed on the package, prepare the instant ramen, reserve 1/4 cup of water, and thoroughly drain.

Toss the noodles with the sauce, adding more noodle water if necessary to loosen them. Enjoy with seaweed, toasted sesame seeds, and sliced green onions on top!
