In the era of social media, it is uncommon for casting secrets to remain a secret, so it is comforting to know that occasionally we can still be shocked. Idris Elba has joined Chris Hemsworth in the Netflix action sequel Extraction 2 only days before its debut, and there is an explosive, smashy, fighty new clip to accompany the news. Examine it below:

In fact, Thor and Heimdall are reuniting. but not quite, as the two appear to be, if not adversaries, then at the very least, not on the best of terms. Elba is portraying "The Man in the Suit," according to a brief blog post from Netflix that followed Hemsworth's Twitter revelation. I appreciate the clarification, gentlemen. We believe 'The Man In The Very Fetching Scarf' may be more suitable based on the tiny glimpse we get of Elba's character.
If you're not familiar, Extraction was the violently written and directed Sam Hargrave and Joe Russo action film for Netflix released in 2020 (based from the multi-authored graphic novel Ciudad by the Russo Brothers). Hemsworth plays the brilliantly named Tyler Rake, a mercenary who accepts military operations in the harshest, post-John Wick manner imaginable (fun to say, as Elba points out in the clip).
His first rescue included the son of a mafia lord. He decides to accept the unofficial release of a Georgian gangster's family from prison in the sequel. Exceptional stunt-heavy set-pieces and a single-shot combat sequence that entailed literally lighting Hemsworth on fire are promised by the outstanding trailers that have been published so far and our exclusive interview with returning director Hargrave in our most recent Secret Invasion issue. Hold on, people.
Netflix will release Extraction 2 on June 16.
